- Abstract
This report investigates the influence of the temperature of a wheel hub drive on important motor parameters and energy consumption during different load cycles. Not only winding temperatures of the motor are considered, but also the changing characteristics of the permanent magnet material Neodymium Iron Boron (Nd-Fe-B) caused by a temperature rise. The required characteristic loss maps for the highly utilized and, thereby, highly saturated wheel hub drive are calculated using the finite element method for several rotor and stator temperatures coupled with a transient thermal model of the machine.
