Abstract

It is possible to distinguish between several types of industry (products business, systems business, plant business) after the ratio of the knowledge creation and the application of knowledge. Within the range of these modes, in our entity relationship model the highest proportion of knowledge creating processes can be assumed at the plant business. The implementation of knowledge creating processes is mainly based on process optimization and on product innovation. Both postulate on communication as an active force between employees of the corporation. Within a case study in a plant business fabric we established an analysis of communication using the Netgraphing Technology. As a result we have a diagrammatic delineation of the communication network, which enables us to emphasize discrepancies between the measured communication and the requirements of knowledge creation to communication. The communication network we measured contributes neither to the needs of process optimization nor to those of product innovation. As a basic principle, we can on a sound footing on our Netgraphing analysis propose potential solutions which relate to internal processes, and architectonical space.
