Abstract

In order to protect the climate and the environment, the Federal Ministry for the Environment has published a target for German industry to reduce emissions by 55 % by 2030. In the rubber industry, the production of rubber compounds in particular is an extremely energy-intensive process and has a correspondingly high potential for energy savings. The mixing process, which usually consists of several stages, can be made more efficient by using the Tandem mixing process to reduce the number of necessary mixing stages. Accordingly, there is a high potential to save energy and improve the carbon footprint of rubber products. This not only has positive economic consequences, but also makes an important contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and climate protection.
