Abstract

The interfering effects of scattering objects on the indicated bearing of Doppler Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range (DVOR) navigation aids are complex stuctures in space. In case of several scattering objects the resulting interference is composed of a super-position of all involved interferences. In this context the structure of the resulting interference, determined by the character of superposition, is of particular interest. Depending on the correlation of each interference constructive as well as destructive superpositions are possible. In this work it is shown that an overall linear summation of all involved interferences is obviously overstating the resulting interference effects. The linear summation is rather a theoretical kind of worst case consideration for insinuating a full correlation between each interference contribution. Furthermore bymeans of several simulations ofwind turbine constellations it is illustrated that a geometrical summation is providing a much more realistic estimation of the combined interference.
