Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of potential social exclusion of care givers. Moreover, it deals with the interaction of informal care and unemployment. It uses the sociological perspective on social exclusion as a multidimensional phenomenon. Based on data from the „Panel Study Labour Market and Social Security (PASS)“, results indicate that a high amount of working hours of informal care can cause feelings of social exclusion, especially to men. The interaction of informal care work and unemployment shows a positive effect on social inclusion to women under certain conditions.
