- Abstract
In the present work, a cost-effective variable speed double generator system for hydroelectric power plants is introduced. It consists of two synchronous generators, a superimposition gearbox and a single regulated water turbine. The dynamic behavior of the double generator system is investigated by Matlab / Simulink simulation. This article deals with the mathematical modeling formalism and the system control features. The speed of the water turbine is regulated by means of a controlled engine with a small inverter. This regulation shows a highly dynamic response and is also robust against the extern interferences.
