Future challenges of power electronics for PV-inverters

authored by
Jens Friebe, Mike Meinhardt
Abstract

The costs of electrical energy from photovoltaic have been reduced by about 90% in the last two decades due to improved solar cell manufacturing and PV-Inverters. It is shown which innovations in the field of PV-Inverters helped to reduce the costs of the systems. It can also be seen, that there are new approaches needed to reduce the system costs even further. The requirements on the power electronic components because of additional functions are discussed. At the end of the paper it is shown how these topics will have an impact on the power electronics of PV-Inverters in the future.
