Abstract

Vocational schools have a special economic significance in Germany. One component of an attractive educational infrastructure in rural areas is the accessibility of vocational schools and training companies. Due to the shrinking availability of local public transport the way to schools and trainings centers is becoming increasingly difficult for apprentices and pupils. This paper examines the transport connections of three selected vocational schools in the city of Northeim on the one hand and the respective training companies on the other. Recommendations for local authorities are derived on the basis of a data analysis.
