Abstract

Employing typically developed peers as mediators in language intervention strategies? How is that supposed to work? And, generally speaking, does it make sense? Yes, it does, because peer interactions are a valuable source for supporting child language skills. Against the background of relational therapy, this survey article builds the theoretical frame of reference in regards to current scientific theories. The concluding section is devoted to discussing the preconditions and boundaries of employing peers in bilingual language intervention and points to questions which future research should address.
