Die deutsche Trinkwasserversorgung im (Klima-)Wandel

Abstract

The global climate change will have significant impact on Germany. The average temperature will continue to increase and weather extremes will occur more often and with greater intensity, shifting the water balance in Germany and obstructing the elementary task of drinking water supply. Not only will there be too little water in the future, but its deteriorated quality will also raise significant problems that must be addressed. Thus, Germany's public authorities and water suppliers must comprehensively anticipate the emerging challenges regarding drinking water as soon as possible and elaborate adequate adaptation strategies and measures: e.g. strengthening the multi-barrier-system, enlarging bonded water recovery systems and implementing new treatment technologies are suitable approaches.
