- Abstract
Over the last decades, the term resilience has emerged in many disciplines. A significant one is that of agriculture, in both urban and peri-urban areas. If food systems organized the territories for ages, today’s modern agro-industries maximize production with little regard to the impacts on the environment. Not only but also, they cut the cities off the countryside, weakening the ecosystems they belong to. In light of this, the book addresses how localized food production in the form of urban agriculture may contribute to a climate-optimized smart city and support the re-development of public space.
